ROCKFORD – The Parkway Panthers won a varsity baseball doubleheader Saturday afternoon over the visiting Van Wert Cougars by the scores of 15-0 and 7-6. Parkway played long-ball in game one, as Drew Luginbill and Jordan Thompson ripped homeruns. Overall, Parkway recorded six extra base hits in the contest (2 homeruns, four doubles). The Panthers scored 11 runs in the third inning to seal the deal. Jensen Painter collected the “W” for Parkway, while Brooks Elder absorbed the setback for Van Wert. The Cougars were held to just two hits in the opener. Game two was a close contest, with Parkway prevailing in the end by a 7-6 count. Van Wert led 4-3 heading into the bottom of the sixth inning, but Parkway stormed back with four runs in their final two at-bats to claim the “W”. Parkway out-hit the Cougars 10-7 as Eddie Burtch and Jordan Thompson recorded two-baggers. Alan Leatherman led VW in the extra base hit department with a triple, while teammates Alix Lucena and Brooks Elder cracked doubles. Ethan Hayes collected the win for Parkway, while Thatcher was handed the loss for the Cougars.
