Superior FCU Partners With Western Buckeye League

SuperiorFederalCreditUnionLIMA, OH— Superior Federal Credit Union and the Western Buckeye League athletic conference have officially signed a marketing agreement making Superior the Official Financial Institution of the WBL, officials from both organizations announced Tuesday on SportsTalk with Koza on 93.1 FM The Fan. While common in college and professional sports, this deal is believed to be the first of its kind in Ohio high school athletics.

Under the agreement, Superior will provide the league and each member school with sponsorship and marketing considerations. Beginning this fall, fans will be able to listen to the all new “WBL Game of the Week” every week during football and basketball season on 93.9 KISS-FM, presented by Superior. Superior will also sponsor one WBL conference tournament each year. Finally, the WBL All Sports Trophy will officially be named the Superior Federal Credit Union Commissioner’s Trophy.

As part of the deal, Superior will also underwrite the Western Buckeye League Sportsmanship Committee. This committee is composed of a minimum of 4 students from each of the WBL member schools as appointed by the athletic director and high school principal of each member school. The committee was created to promote sportsmanship and leadership among the league’s student-athletes.

In return, Superior will receive promotional consideration from the league and its member schools, including on the League’s website, wblsports.com, and the WBL Sports mobile app.

“Superior has always been supportive of our local schools. In pursing this partnership, we sought to package our support into a single agreement that would benefit both organizations,“ said Kurt Neeper, Vice President of Superior Federal Credit Union.

“Superior’s office locations align almost perfectly with the WBL member schools. And like the Western Buckeye League, we have a long tradition of excellence in enriching the communities we serve,” said Neeper. “So when looking for a marketing partner, it only made sense to start with the WBL.”

“The athletic directors and member schools are in agreement that this is a good partnership for all involved,” said Robert Askins, WBL Commissioner. “This is a relatively new type of agreement for us, and knowing that this partnership will reflect on all member schools, we wanted to make sure that we were working with a quality organization. We found that in Superior.”
