Mark Smith who began his career at Defiance High School as a secondary/linebackers coach from 1979-1981 is now on the staff at the University of Michigan as the linebackers coach. Smith was Brady Hoke’s defensive coordinator at Ball State and was also on staff at San Diego State.

The Division II All-Ohio Teams were announced and Wapakoneta had 4 players receive honors and Wapakoneta head coach Doug Frey was named co-coach of the year. Mickey Grothause was named to the 2nd Team at punter. The 3rd Team had Logan Erb at running back and Cale Tabler at defensive back. Chris Schwartz was named special mention.

In Division III, Elida’s Reggie McAdams was named to the 1st Team at quarterback. Elida’s Ross Harmon and Shawnee’s Seth Rosenbauer were named to the 3rd Team at linebacker and punter. Special mention went to Celina’s Kahl Knapke and Brian Donovan and Elida’s Austin Etzler and Kevin Kraft. Elida’s Jason Carpenter was also named Division III Co-Coach of the Year.
